Vita Biosa contains not only live probiotic bacteria, but also the valuable organic acids (Lactic acid and acetic acids) they produce. The organic acids are beneficial to a long list of functions in the intestines, among these maintaining a physical barrier in the colon and stimulate the immune response. They also help preserve the product in a natural and healthy way.
Lactic acid has many beneficial effects, partially as an anti-microbial and –fungal substance, but also as an energy supply for muscle cells, the heart and brain. Lactic acid is also used as a pH-stabilizer or as a preservative because the acid has properties, which make it an antioxidant, and for the control of pathogenic microorganisms. The purpose of an intake of lactic acid is that it stabilizes the pH-value and that it is used as a signal substance in the microbiome's cooperation with the immune system.
Acetic acid is known as the ingredient in vinegar, which gives it its acidic taste and sharp odor. It is, however, also used because of its preservative abilities, as it creates an acidic environment, which suppresses pathogenic microorganisms.
The purpose of an intake of acetic acid is that it stabilizes the pH-value and that it stimulates the blood flow and bowel movements, which ensures the foods flow through the system.
Vita Biosa contains extract of 19 different herbs. All herbs are non-GMO and have been grown according to EU-organic law. Dried herbs are mixed in with the lactic acid bacteria, molasses and water. They stay in the mixture for several weeks, after which they are subtracted. What remains is an extract of the herbs. The herbs in Vita Biosa are: Anise, basil, fenugreek, dill, juniper, fennel, elder, angelica, chervil, licorice root, oregano, peppermint, parsley, roman chamomile, rosemary, sage, large nettle, thyme and extract of ginger. These 19 organic herbs are specifically selected for their beneficial effect on the digestive system and anti inflammatory properties.
