Vitamin B12 is a naturally occurring water soluble vitamin that is formed by microorganisms. It is also found in some foods from animal origin such as meat, fish, shellfish and liver.

Vitamin B12 is important in energy metabolism. It also helps in the formation of red blood cells and in the maintenance of the central nervous system.

The human body stores several years' worth of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 deficiency can take months to years to become symptomatic due to large body stores.

Vitamin B12 deficiency is especially common in older adults, mainly due to lack of intrinsic factor required for the absorption of vitamin B12 and malabsorption.

Vitamin B12 deficiency can also occur in people who follow a strict vegetarian diet and do not eat eggs or dairy products.

Free of yeast, wheat, soy, gluten and dairy products and are formulated without the use of artificial preservatives, flavours or colours.


Adults - Take 1 sublingual nugget daily, preferably at mealtime, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner, to be placed between the cheek and gum, under the tongue or chewed.

Vitamin B12: vital for vegans

If you follow a 100% plant based diet, you NEED vitamin B12 supplement, as it is not available from plants. Vegans who fail to take B12 supplement could face severe health issues such as anemia, nervous system injury, etc. Thankfully Solgar B12 is cheap, easy to take (put it under your tongue and let it dissolve) and tastes great (cherry flavour). Been taking it for six years and my blood test results show that my B12 level is always way above the normal average (Having a high B12 level is not a risk.)
