Radiance Digest Gluten provides patented BioCore® DPP IV, a unique protease digestive enzyme blend designed to help support the digestion of difficult-to-digest proteins and gluten, so the occasional gluten containing meal can be eater with more confidence and comfort.
Gluten is found in wheat, rye, barley, triticale and possibly oats. People with Coeliac Disease have a permanent intolerance to gluten in the small intestine.
Our small intestine is lined by tiny, finger like projections called villi. Villi is responsible for the breakdown of food and absorb nutrients from our small intestine. When people with coeliac disease eat gluten containing foods, it triggers off an allergic immune reaction that leads to the destruction of villi lining the small intestine. This damage affects the ability of the small intestine to absorb nutrients properly and can lead to malnutrition. This may lead to deficiencies in vitamins, iron, folic acid and calcium, because of poor absorption. Sugars, proteins and fats are sometimes poorly absorbed as well.
Common symptoms of Coliac Disease includes diarrhoea, abdominal cramps and bloating, flatulence, fatigue and lethargy, anaemia and weight loss.
