Colostrum is a high-protein fluid secreted in breast milk in the first few days after birth. Often referred to as Nature's First Food, Colostrum is rich in Immunoglobulin G (IgG), antibodies, lymphocytes and macrophages as well as nutrients to promote a healthy immune system and is protective against infection. Colostrum is also rich in insulin-like growth factors (IGFs).

IgG is a type of antibody that circulates our body and protects the tissues from bacteria, viruses and toxins.

Studies have found colostrum supplementation increases blood IGF-1 (Insulin-Like Growth Factor-1). Also known as somatomedin-C, IGF-1 mediates the action of growth hormone (GH), playing a major role in cell growth and development.  Some athletes use colostrum to improve their performance, decrease recovery time and increase lean muscle tissue.
