Blackmores Evening Primrose Oil is a rich source of omega-6 essential fatty acids, gamma-linoleic acid (GLA) and linoleic acid (LA). Low levels of GLA have been found in women with premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Essential fatty acid deficiency can result in an excess of the female hormone prolactin which is responsible for many of the symptoms of PMS. Where breast tenderness is present, evening primrose is particularly useful in relieving symptoms of PMS, including mood swings and bloating.
There is also good scientific evidence that supports the use of evening primrose oil for the management of eczema.
