Valerian is most often recommended for promotion of a restful sleep. It can help to relax the body, ease muscle twitching and spasms and alleviate nervousness.
Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) has been used for centuries as a medicinal herb to ease insomnia and anxiety. Germany's Commission E approved valerian as an effective mild sedative and the USA FDA listed valerian as "Generally Recognised as Safe". It is believed that valerian works by increasing the levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain. GABA lowers the activity of excitatory brain cells, making you more relaxed.
Valerian helps promote healthy sleep patterns and improves sleep quality. For some people, valerian works within an hour of the first dose. However research suggests continuous nightly use (for several days to four weeks) may be needed for significant effects.

Directions
Adults - Take 1 capsule daily with food. This can be increased to 2 capsules or as professionally prescribed.
