Blackmores Tranquil Night contains the sedative herbs lavender, hops, skullcap and passion flower which have traditionally been used to relieve mild insomnia and disturbed sleep patterns. As a group they help to relax muscular tension, and have a sedative effect on the central nervous system.
Lavender is traditionally used as a remedy for insomnia and anxiety. Research has confirmed that lavender calms, soothes and sedates when it's scent is inhaled. Lavender flowers is also approved in Germany as a tea for insomnia, restlessness and nervous stomach irritations.
Hops is considered an excellent inducer of sleep and is often used to relieve insomnia as well as mild anxiety and nervous tension.
Passion flower (Passiflora incarnata), like skullcap is used traditionally in the Americas and Europe as a calming herb for insomnia and anxiety. It is believed that passion flower, like valerian works by increasing levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain.
Oats have traditionally been used as a nervous system tonic, as well as a mild sedative.

Directions
