Milk thistle - Supports and protects the liver and gall bladder. Milk thistle has been used for the treatment of liver and gall bladder problems for over 2000 years. Silymarin, a bioflavonoid complex found in milk thistle is believed to be the biologically component. Silybin is the main bioflavonoid of the silymarin complex.
Clinical studies have shown the effectiveness of milk thistle in protecting the liver from toxins. Studies have also shown improvement in liver function test when used in the treatment of viral hepatitis C and alcoholic hepatitis.
